AGGRAVATED SECOND-DEGREE BATTERY – NAJA JONES
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Naja Jones, 26, of 218 Daggs Street, Paincourtville, LA, on felony charges arising from a July 18, 2021 incident at the aforementioned address.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a disturbance involving weapons. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant / victim who had sustained a hand injury.
The victim advised that she had an argument over the phone with the suspect, now identified as Naja Jones. A short time later, Jones, a relative of the victim, came to the home at which time Naja Jones entered armed with a baseball bat, a knife, then a gun. During the struggle, the victim received minor lacerations. The suspect left prior to deputies arriving.
Investigating deputies applied for and were granted arrest warrants charging the suspect.
On Monday, Naja Jones was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Second Degree Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
*Resisting an Officer
Naja Jones remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
