CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
LEROYAL SOUTHALL, JR.
PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Leroyal Southall, Jr., 49, of 12373 Sugar Mill Drive, Geismar, LA, on a felony firearms violation arising from a complaint at a residence on B&L Street in Plattenville on July 25, 2024.
Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to a disturbance complaint and were cautioned that Leroyal Southall, Jr. may have a firearm in his vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies did recover a firearm from the vehicle of Leroyal Southall, Jr. Deputies determined that Southhall was a prior convicted felon and therefore could not legally possess a firearm.
While investigating the complaint, Leroyal Southall, Jr. exhibited signs of a medical condition which deputies felt needed the attention of medical personnel. Southall was transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
Deputies secured arrest warrants for Leroyal Southall, Jr.
A uniformed patrol deputy arrested Leroyal Southall, Jr. on Saturday. He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Disturbing the Peace
Leroyal Southall, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set $10,000.
