CRUELTY TO JUVENILES WITH FORCE OR VIOLENCE
AKEEM LASHON MITCHELL

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Akeem Lashon Mitchell, 34, of 148 Daggs Street, Belle Rose, La., on felony cruelty to juvenile charges resulting from a November 24, 2020 incident near Paincourtville, La.

Deputies were called to Assumption Community Hospital on the date of the incident and made contact with medical personnel as well as a 13-year-old female victim.

Deputies interviewed the victim as well as witnesses and determined that the incident occurred due to a disagreement between the child and the accused, Akeem Lashon Mitchell.

Deputies were able to verify numerous superficial injuries to the child.

Based on all facts obtained, deputies applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Akeem Lashon Mitchell.

On Tuesday, Mitchell was arrested and booked on charges of:

*Cruelty to a Juvenile with Force or Violence

Akeem Lashon Mitchell remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
