DISTURBANCE – AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Todd Lawerance Benoit, 38, of 340 Convent Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony aggravated assault charges arising from a disturbance Saturday afternoon in Labadieville.

Deputies were dispatched to the Convent Street area in reference to a disturbance involving a gun. Deputies made contact with the complainants who advised that they went to a residence on Convent Street to retrieve personal items belonging to a former acquaintance of Todd Lawerance Benoit. While at the location, Todd Lawerance Benoit retrieved a firearm and pointed it in a threatening manner towards the complainants. Deputies were able to view electronic video footage of the incident corroborating the complaints allegations.

Deputies located Todd Lawerance Benoit at the incident location and arrested him. Deputies recovered a large caliber firearm.

Todd Lawerance Benoit was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm – 3 Counts
*Prohibition on the Possession of Firearms by a Person Against Whom a Protective
Order is Issued
*Fugitive Warrant – Lafourche Parish – Violation of Protective Orders – 3 Counts

Todd Lawerance Benoit remains incarcerated with bond set at $180,000.
