DISTURBANCE -AGGRAVATED SECOND DEGREE BATTERY – ANTHONY JAMES EWELL
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Anthony James Ewell, 60, of 3372 Back Marais Street, Napoleonville, LA, on felony battery charges arising from an incident at a residence in the 300 block of LA 400 on Tuesday.
Deputies were dispatched to the location in reference to an individual who had been stabbed in the neck. Deputies arrived and made contact with one victim who indicated that earlier in the day, he and the suspect had an argument over a lawn chair. During that argument, the suspect Anthony James Ewell threatened to kill the victim. The suspect and victim went their separate ways. Later on Tuesday as the victim was walking back from a local business, the suspect, Anthony James Ewell ran up behind the victim and stabbed him in the neck.
Investigating deputies observed physical injuries to the victim corroborating statements made by the involved parties.
At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies arrested Anthony James Ewell and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Second Degree Battery
Additionally, Anthony James Ewell was charged on multiple failure to appear warrants in Assumption Parish:
-Driving While Intoxicated
-Following too Closely
-Driver Must be Licensed
-Resisting an Officer
Bond on the failure to appear charges is set at $1,379.00
Anthony James Ewell remains incarcerated on the felony battery charges pending a bond hearing.
The victim was treated at a local hospital.
