DISTURBANCE – MAN ILLEGALLY POSSESSING A FIREARM

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Eric Rena Jones, 48, of 225 Virginia Street, Belle Rose, LA, on felony firearms charges arising from an incident at the aforementioned address on Friday morning.

Uniformed patrol deputies were dispatched to the location in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that Eric Rena Jones was inside the residence armed with a large caliber handgun.

Deputies located Eric Rena Jones as well as the firearm.

Eric Rena Jones is a prior convicted felon therefore could not legally possess a firearm. Eric Rena Jones was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of a Firearm / Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies

Eric Rena Jones remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
