LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Avonte R. Jamison, 25, of 3229 Delaune Street, Napoleonville, LA, on charges relating to an illegal dogfighting exhibition on April 3, 2019.

On the aforementioned date, deputies were dispatched to a residence on LA 1014 near Labadieville regarding ongoing dogfighting.

Deputies arrived on scene and several suspects fled on foot in separate directions.

Follow-up investigation by deputies and detectives resulted in a number of suspects being arrested and warrants issued for others that fled on foot.

On April 5, 2019, a warrant for the arrest of Avonte R. Jamison was issued. Jamison was incarcerated in the Terrebonne Parish Correctional Complex on unrelated charges and was released to the custody of Assumption Parish on Monday.

Avonte R. Jamison was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on one count of:

*Dogfighting / Possession of Dogs for Fighting

Jamison remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
