DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY, CRIMES UPON THE INFIRMED

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Betty L. Metrejean, 56, of 316 South Bay Road, Pierre Part, LA, on multiple charges related to the abuse of an elderly and infirmed person.

The Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs contacted the sheriff’s office regarding potential abuse of an elderly person at the aforementioned address.

Detectives commenced a follow-up investigation and determined that an elderly infirmed victim had sustained physical abuse at the hands of the suspect, Betty L. Metrejean. Detectives also determined that Betty L. Metrejean stole personal funds from the victim and used those funds for her own personal gain.

Betty L. Metrejean was interviewed on Tuesday and following that interview, warrants were applied for and granted for the arrest of the suspect.

Betty L. Metrejean was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility on charges of:

*Domestic Abuse Battery
*Simple Battery Upon the Infirmed
*Exploitation of the Infirmed

Betty L. Metrejean remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
