DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY WITH CHILD ENDANGERMENT

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Herbert James Elam, Jr., 46, of 124 Millien Drive, Belle Rose, LA, on charges related to a February 5, 2020 domestic disturbance.
Deputies were dispatched to the aforementioned address in connection with a domestic incident. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who indicated that she and the accused resided together. The two engaged in a verbal altercation and at some point, Elam allegedly struck the victim in the face with a closed fist.
The investigating officer did observe physical and obvious injuries to the victim’s face. Deputies also noted the presence of a small child during the incident. The suspect had departed prior to the deputy’s arrival. Elam allegedly stole the victim’s cell and home phones.
Based on all of the circumstances and evidence, the deputy applied for and was granted an arrest warrant for Elam.
Herbert James Elam, Jr. was arrested in Ascension Parish on Monday. He was transferred to Assumption Parish and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment
*Misdemeanor Theft
Elam was released after posting bond.
