DRUG LAW VIOLATION / OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jerome Joseph Herbert, Jr., 20, of 8927 Palms Street, New Orleans, LA, on a number of charges related to a Friday night incident at a parish owned recreation facility.
At approximately midnight on Friday, deputies attempted to disperse a number of people loitering on the outside of the facility. A deputy approached a vehicle that was parked in the handicapped area. The deputy made contact with the driver and one occupant. The officer noted an odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. As the deputy made contact with the passenger, now identified as Jerome Herbert Joseph, Jr., the subject walked off and when doing so, pitched a bag of suspected marijuana then began to run to the side of the facility. The deputy caught Joseph and had to physically restrain him.
Joseph was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Obstruction of Justice
*Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence
*Possession of Marijuana
*Enter / Remain After Being Forbidden
Jerome Herbert Joseph, Jr., was released on a $4,000 bond.
