DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – CHARLES WALTER PATTERSON, III
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charles Walter Patterson, III, 39, of 133 Violet Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop south of Napoleonville on Thursday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Charles Walter Patterson III. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
The suspect driver became non-compliant and at some point, fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended. During the pursuit, the suspect threw a packet to the ground. That packet contained suspected dangerous drugs.
A K-9 was summoned to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of illegal drugs.
As a result of the ensuing search, a substantial amount of illegal drugs were seized.
Charles Walter Patterson, III was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
*Prohibited Acts – Schedule 1
*Possession of Oxycodone
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Xanax (Alprazolam)
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer
*Turning Movements and Required Signals
Charles Walter Patterson, III remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
