ESCAPEE RE-CAPTURED

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Roller Avila, 19, of 35488 Preston Lane, Donaldsonville, LA, following his escape from the Assumption Parish Detention Center earlier this week.

Roller Avila was arrested previously, one of eight suspects charged in connection with the armed robbery of Cane Row Casino on September 29, 2022.

Avila scaled security measures and made his way off the detention center property.

Investigating detectives tracked Avila to the Gretna area late Wednesday night. Detectives partnered with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gretna Police Department and arrested Avila at an apartment on Stephen’s Street in Gretna.

As a result of an internal investigation into the escape, one employee resigned today in lieu of termination. As this is an internal administrative matter, the corrections officer’s identity cannot be released. The internal investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Leland Falcon extends his appreciation to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Gretna Police Department, U.S. Customs and the U.S. Marshall’s Office for their assistance in this matter.

Roller Avila remains incarcerated in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Correction Complex pending transfer to Assumption Parish where he is facing additional charges.
