FALSE PERSONATION OF A POLICE OFFICER – PROBATION HOLD

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jamar Anthony Joseph, 38, of 101 Lake MacLaine Ave., Thibodaux, LA, following a June 11, 2020 traffic stop near Labadieville, LA.
On the aforementioned date, a uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 398 west of Labadieville.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop of the violator vehicle, now identified as Jamar Anthony Joseph. The deputy began to interview the suspect driver. During the conversation, the violator made mention that he was a full-time shift patrolman for the Thibodaux Police Department. The deputy issued Joseph a traffic citation for speeding.
Upon completing the traffic stop, the deputy attempted to confirm that Joseph was a full-time commissioned peace officer. The deputy was able to confirm that Jamar Anthony Joseph had never been a patrolman for the City of Thibodaux and at this time was a convicted felon on probation.
A warrant for the arrest of Jamar Anthony Joseph was requested and granted. Jamar Anthony Joseph was arrested on July 9, 2020 by Louisiana State Police in Terrebonne Parish.
Jamar Anthony Joseph was transferred and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Friday, September 4, 2020 on charges of:
*Personation of a Peace Officer
*Probation Violation
Jamar Anthony Joseph has a bond set at $10,000.
