Felony Domestic Arrest

SUBJECT: FELONY DOMESTIC ARREST – RELATED PURSUIT
KENT M. COUPLE and CHRISTIAN MICHAEL GUITRAU
NAPOLEONVILLE – Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Kent M. Coupel, 34, of 663 Highway 403, Paincourtville, LA, and Christian Michael Guitrau, 24, of 438 A Bayou Drive, Pierre Part, LA, following an investigative stop on Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified that Kent M. Coupel, a wanted felon, may be in the Paincourtville / Napoleonville area occupying a pick-up truck.
Deputies were attempting to apprehend Coupel on felony domestic charges related to a May 31, 2019 incident in Pierre Part. Coupel fled the scene of that incident prior to deputies arriving and has remained at large since.
As deputies responded to the information on Tuesday, the suspect vehicle was located and deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. The pick-up truck occupied by the aforementioned individuals continued on with deputies in pursuit.
At some point, the pick-up truck slowed near an intersection at which time Kent Coupel bailed from the passenger side of the vehicle and fled on foot. Kent M. Coupel was apprehended and arrested.
The driver, Christian Michael Guitrau was also arrested.
Guitrau was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Flight from an Officer
He remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
At the time of Coupel’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of marijuana and heroin.
Coupel was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
- Domestic Abuse Battery
- Resisting an Officer (2 Counts)
- Possession of Marijuana (2nd Offense)
- Possession of Heroin
Additionally, Coupel was booked on a count of:
- Aggravated Flight from an Officer
That charge relates to a pursuit by deputies on June 6, 2019 when Coupel again evaded capture as he fled into a wooded area.
At the time of Tuesday’s arrest, a parole violation hold was placed on Coupel in connection with a prior felony conviction. Coupel has an extensive criminal history.
Kent M. Coupel was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
