FELONY THEFT – STEVEN BURNETTE TURNER, JR.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Steven Burnette Turner, Jr., 34, of 131 Cancienne Road, Napoleonville, La., on felony theft charges following a traffic stop on La. 1 at La. Spur 70 early Friday.
On April 6, 2026, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a criminal referral from the Louisiana Workforce Commission regarding an individual residing in Assumption Parish who received unemployment benefits in the amount of $2,406.00.
This case was assigned to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau who then initiated an investigation into the matter. On April 9,2026, Detectives received information indicating that an individual now identified as Steven Burnette Turner, Jr., applied for unemployment benefits which were granted beginning on July 26,2025 through December 13, 2025. On August 20,2025, Turner re-employed with a company but failed to report such and continued receiving benefits.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Steven Burnette Turner, Jr.
On Friday morning, a Louisiana State Trooper stopped Steven Burnette Tuner, Jr., on traffic related charges and determined that Turner was wanted on a felony theft warrant filed by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Steven Burnette Turner, Jr., was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driving While Intoxicated – 1st Offense
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Improper Lane Usage
*Theft -Warrant-Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office
Steven Burnette Turner, Jr., remains incarcerated with bond set at $5,000.
