FUGITIVE FELONY ARREST DURING TRAFFIC STOP-I.C.E. ARREST

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Khalid Asim Coates,44, of 11017 Toledo Bend, Baton Rouge, La., on a fugitive warrant from the Baton Rouge City Police Department following a traffic stop on LA. 398 west of Labadieville on Tuesday evening.
A uniform patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a stop of that vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Khalid Asim Coates and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. During the stop, the deputy conducted a warrants check on Coates and determined that he was wanted by Baton Rouge City Police on a felony fugitive warrant.
Khalid Asim Coates was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on felony fugitive charges of:
*Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated- Fourth Offense
*Disregarding Traffic Control Signals
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Khalid Asim Coates remains incarcerated pending transfer to the Baton Rouge City Police.
