GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – TAKING CONTRABAND TO / FROM A PENAL
INSTITUTION – MAI AVERIANNA FRANCIS
PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Mai Averianna Francis, 23, of 69 Lee Drive, Franklin, LA, on felony firearms charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 near Bayou Corne, LA.
The deputy observed the vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver as well as two passengers including Mai Averianna Francis.
The deputy conducted warrants check on all three occupants. The check on Mai Averianna Francis revealed that she was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant in St. Mary Parish. Francis was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center for booking.
Once at the detention facility, Francis was found to have concealed contraband on her person which was seized.
Mai Averianna Francis was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons
*Taking Contraband to / From a Penal Institution
*Failure to Appear in St. Mary Parish on Charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession
of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Mai Averianna Francis remains incarcerated with bond set at $10,000.
