HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
TERRY JOSEPH SANCHEZ, JR., MEGAN MARIE PORTER
BELLE RIVER – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr., 43, of 115 Cross La Rue Street, Belle River, LA, and Megan Marie Porter, 35, of 115 Cross La Rue Street, Belle River, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a hit and run incident in Belle River on August 12, 2024.
On the aforementioned date, deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Belle River in reference to a hit and run incident. Deputies initiated an investigation and determined that a vehicle had run off of the highway, damaging two mobile homes. Through investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect vehicle as being registered to Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. Deputies further identified the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash as Megan Marie Porter. Deputies located the pickup truck which had sustained damages consistent with damages at the scene of the crash. Deputies further determined that Terry Sanchez, Jr. had assisted Megan Marie Porter in removing the vehicle from the scene and failing to contact law enforcement.
On the day of the crash, Megan Marie Porter was cited for Hit and Run Driving, Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic, Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag, Driving Under Suspension and No Liability Insurance.
The investigation continued resulting in warrants being issued for the arrest of Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. and Megan Marie Porter.
On Monday, August 19, 2024, deputies arrested Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. and Megan Marie Porter.
At the time of the arrest, Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Obstruction of Justice
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Terry Joseph Sanchez, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Megan Marie Porter was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Misdemeanor)
*Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Felony)
Damages to the two mobile homes in question is valued at approximately $15,200.
Megan Marie Porter remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
