IDENTITY THEFT – BANK FRAUD

LABADIEVILLE –Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Chrissy Rhodes Thomas, 40, of 1071 Canal Boulevard, Apartment 2, Thibodaux, La., on felony charges following an investigation of an illegal financial scheme originating near Labadieville, La.
On April 20, 2020, deputies responded to a complaint in which a property owner indicated that someone had stolen her identity resulting in financial crimes being committed. The complainant believed that the suspect was her rental property tenant identified as Chrissy Rhodes Thomas.
Detectives initiated an investigation and learned that someone had opened accounts at a number of financial institutions. The applications were all done on line and two of the I.P. addresses were saved and ultimately traced back to the owner of those I.P. addresses. Thomas created e-mail addresses which attached to her personal bank account. Once loans were approved, funding flowed into Thomas’s account.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives requested and were granted arrest warrants for Thomas.
On October 16, 2020, Chrissy Rhodes Thomas was arrested by Lafourche Parish. Thomas was transferred to Assumption Parish on Friday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Felony Identity Theft
*Bank Fraud (4 Counts-Felony)
*Attempted Monetary Instrument Abuse (4 Counts)
Chrissy Rhodes Thomas was incarcerated with a bond set at $90,000.
