LABADIEVILLE MAN INDICTED IN CONNECTION WITH DEADLY APRIL SHOOTING – RONALD VALLEJO
On December 6, 2021, an Assumption Parish Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment on 30-year-old Ronald Vallejo of 187 Violet St. Labadieville, LA for the charges of 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder (2 counts), Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms.
On April 16, 2021, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Violet St. in Labadieville after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, detectives located 30-year-old Travin Smith deceased on the scene along with two other shooting victims who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
During the course of an extensive investigation, detectives were able to gather evidence and statements identifying Ronald Vallejo as the shooter and subsequently obtained a warrant of arrest for Vallejo. In September, Vallejo was apprehended by the U.S. Marshalls in Harris County, Texas. Vallejo was transported to the Assumption Parish Jail where he was booked and remains incarcerated without bond.
