MULTIPLE FELONY, MISDEMEANOR WARRANTS
DEMOND J. LEWIS

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Demond J. Lewis, 32, of 147 Gold Street, Napoleonville, LA, on multiple felony arrest warrants resulting from a series of domestic abuse cases, dating back to 2017 and all connected to the same victim.

During the course of this toxic and violent relationship, warrants were filed against Demond J. Lewis in September 2017, July 2018, October 2018, May 2019, November of 2019 and February of 2020.

In December of 2019, all local law enforcement was notified that this suspect, Demond J. Lewis had made credible threats to any police officer attempting to apprehend him.

On February 21, 2019, deputies spotted Lewis operating a vehicle on LA 1, south of Belle Rose. Deputies engaged in a pursuit. Lewis abandoned the vehicle near Peterville Lane and was able to evade capture.

On August 20, 2019, a narcotics officer spotted Demond J. Lewis driving a vehicle near Belle Rose. The deputy pursued Lewis from LA 1 to LA 308 to Freetown Lane at which time Lewis crashed the vehicle and then fled on foot and subsequently avoided arrest.

On February 17, 2020, deputies received information as to the whereabouts of Demond J. Lewis. A large presence of law-enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Office converged on a residence near Napoleonville and swiftly arrested Lewis.

He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:

*Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment
*Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation
*Battery of a Dating Partner
*Resisting an Officer
*No Seat Belt
*Speeding
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Child Desertion
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Domestic Abuse Battery (Felony)
*Domestic Abuse Battery (Misdemeanor)
*Warrant – Failure to Appear – Criminal Neglect – Assumption Parish
*Failure to Appear – Assumption Parish – Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Fugitive – Ascension Parish

Demond J. Lewis was incarcerated pending bond proceedings.
