NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK – APRIL 13-19, 2025
NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK-April 13th-19th NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon take this opportunity to shower much praise upon our Communications Division as we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
In Assumption Parish, our communications officers are the first point of contact for emergency and / or non-emergency situations. There are generally two communications officers assigned to each shift, and they literally hold the pulse of the parish in their hands.
Our communications officers handle all Sheriff Office communications, 911, fire department calls and ambulance calls. The Communications Division is the first line of defense for emergency personnel. They are expected to receive all calls and dispatch them accordingly. Our patrol, detectives and narcotics division receive their first details of any situation from our dispatchers and that information provides deputies and other emergency personnel with specific and sometimes dangerous details they may encounter.
“Our communications personnel rarely have any physical contact with the outside world, but they are the ones who receive the good, the bad and / or the ugly details of situations and their expertise can mean the difference between life or death”, Sheriff Falcon said.
From all us at the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, we say THANK YOU to our Communication Specialists!!!
