RECKLESS DRIVING COMPLAINT – FELONY GUN LAW VIOLATION – GILBERT GERRARD THOMAS, JR.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gilbert Gerrard Thomas, Jr., 20, of 3356 Highway 1, Napoleonville, LA, on felony charges arising from a reckless driving complaint involving property damage on LA 1 in Napoleonville on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies were dispatched to the location and made contact with the complainant who advised that she was on LA 1 near the LA 1010 Bridge when a vehicle passed her up and when doing so, one of her windows shattered. Deputies were provided a description of the vehicle and were provided video footage of the suspect vehicle.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle on LA 401 in Napoleonville. The driver was now identified as Gilbert Gerrard Thomas, Jr. While interviewing Thomas, deputies noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. At the conclusion of the interview process, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the ensuing vehicle search, deputies seized quantities of CBD Crisp and a firearm.
Gilbert Gerrard Thomas, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Cannabinoids / Synthetic Marijuana
*No Proof of Insurance
Gilbert Gerrard Thomas, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
