NAPOLEONVILLE – We are once again receiving complaints from our elderly citizens and their families and / or caregivers of an ongoing scam whereas unknown callers are calling elderly residents to forward money for specific reasons.

More recently, targeted elderlies have been told that their son, daughter, grandchild, etc. has been involved in a serious accident and that funds are needed for medical treatment, bail, or other related reasons.

One of the states in which money has been requested to be mailed is Hickory, North Carolina. However, you should not send money to any location without first investigating.

We also ask all residents to please keep an eye out for your elderly loved ones, neighbors, friends, etc.
