SEX CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN – SIDNEY W. CLIFTON

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Sidney W. Clifton, 59, of 12430 River Highlands Road Apartment B, St. Amant, LA, on felony sex crimes involving a child.

On July 16, 2024, patrol deputies were dispatched to an address in the 6400 block of LA 1 near Belle Rose in reference to alleged sex crimes upon a juvenile.

Deputies made contact with the complaint who advised that on July 15, 2024, Sidney W. Clifton visited an individual at the address near Belle Rose and while there, committed a sexual battery upon a child. Deputies were further advised that on the same day, the juvenile victim was allowed to accompany Sidney W. Clifton to a local retail outlet. Upon leaving the retail outlet, Sidney W. Clifton drove to a secluded area at which time he attempted to touch the juvenile victim again. His attempt was rebuffed by the victim. Sidney W. Clifton then took the child back to the residence near Belle Rose and told her not to tell anyone.

The case was referred to detectives for further investigation. Investigators conducted an investigation which included review of electronic surveillance equipment.

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives secured warrants for Sidney W. Clifton.

On August 21, 2024, Sidney W. Clifton was arrested by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sidney W. Clifton was transferred to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on August 22, 2024. Clifton was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Indecent Behavior with Juveniles
*Sexual Battery – Forcible Fondling

Both above offenses require sex offender registration.

Sidney W. Clifton remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

At the time of the offense, the child was under the age of 10.
