SGT. YARBROUGH COMPLETES LOUISIANA ASSOCIATION OF CRISIS NEGOTIATORS
During the week of October 25-29, 2021, Sgt. Javon Yarbrough, Sr. attended and successfully completed the FBI’s basic 40-hour crisis negotiator training, hosted by Louisiana Association of Crisis Negotiators, and held at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy. This training enables his addition to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office’s crisis negotiation team, a subdivision of Sheriff Falcon’s SWAT team.
The crisis negotiation unit is responsible for working towards successful and peaceful resolutions when multiple types of situations occur. They have been activated numerous times with successful outcomes, and continue to train in order to stay ready when called upon. Sheriff Falcon has invested into the team by purchasing valuable operations equipment that allows the team to efficiently complete their tasks, as well as effectively work in conjunction with the tactical teams of SWAT.
Also in attendance of this training was Capt. Donnie Calamia, who was elected to the Louisiana Association of Crisis Negotiators’ executive board as Treasurer at the association’s annual state training conference in June of 2021. Capt. Calamia assisted with training instruction and as a board member in hosting the training.
