SHERIFF FALCON DECIDES NOT TO ROLL FORWARD
AD-VALOREM RATES
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon voted today to not roll forward the annual Ad-Valorem millage rates for the Special Law Enforcement District, thus resulting in a savings to residential and business property owners in the parish.
“Since I assumed the office of Sheriff, I have worked diligently to prioritize spending in the manner that affords us the best opportunity to provide quality services and effective law enforcement and at the same time, to work within our means. The men and women of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office have been blessed to earn modest wages and we work feverishly to provide our employees with the necessary equipment to conduct our mission,” Falcon said.
“While our day to day services have increased, our operating costs remain stable and in check.
With that said, I am pleased to announce that I did not roll forward the Ad-Valorem Tax annual millage rates, therefore not increasing the property taxes that you, the residents of Assumption Parish pay to fund your Sheriff’s Office. We remain focused on our objectives and our commitment to our residents, and as always, we Thank You For Your Continued Support,” Falcon said.
It is unprecedented for Sheriff’s to not roll forward the annual millage rates. Until now, the practice had been standard and continuing for decades.
“Next year we will examine budgetary conditions to determine if there is a need to roll forward or not. We will make the decision on a year to year basis as financial budgets dictate,” Falcon said.
