SHOOTING INCIDENT ON WILLOW STREET, LABADIEVILLE
JEROME SMITH, JERAMEY JOHNSON, SHAQUILLE STARKS
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jerome Smith, 31, of 302 Willow Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony charges arising from multiple shootings on Willow Street on July 22, 2021.
As a result of continued investigation, felony warrants have been issued for the arrests of Jeramey A. Johnson, 37, of 109 Polk Street, Houma, LA and Shaquille Starks, 27, of 425 Maple Street, Labadieville, LA.
On July 22, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting on Willow Street. Deputies initiated an investigation and were able to conclude that two individuals had been shot and subsequently were treated at local hospitals for their injuries.
The two who were shot are identified as Jeramey Johnson and Shaquille Starks.
Additionally, during the investigation, detectives learned that Shaquille Starks was in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine shortly before the shootings. Subsequent crime lab analysis confirmed that the substances were indeed marijuana and methamphetamine.
At some point an argument erupted between some of the individuals resulting in the shootings. The subject matter of that argument is unknown at this time.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives filed charges against Jerome Smith, Jeramey Johnson and Shaquille Starks.
Jerome Smith was apprehended in Terrebonne Parish following his arrest by State Police. He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on November 29, 2021 on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Smith posted a $10,000 bond.
Jeramey Johnson remains at large and is wanted on charges of:
*Attempted Second Degree Murder
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
Shaquille Starks remains at large and is wanted on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Methamphetamines
