SHOOTING INCIDENT – JAWUAN MITCHELL
PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jawuan Mitchell, 21, of 33006 Highway 943 South, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony assault charges in connection with a June 25, 2020 shooting incident at a Plattenville business.
On that date, deputies were dispatched to the establishment in connection with a shooting incident.
During the investigation process, detectives were able to recover evidence linking Jawuan Mitchell to the crime, along with one other suspect.
Following the investigation, detectives were able to identify the second suspect as well, Trayon I. Boatner, 26, of 304 Highway 1, Labadieville, LA.
Trayon Boatner was arrested on July 8, 2020 on felony charges related to the incident.
On Thursday morning, Jawuan Mitchell turned himself into Detectives and was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
Jawuan Mitchell remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
As a result of the June 25, 2020 incident Jawuan Mitchell did receive gunshot wounds and has since recovered.
