SIMPLE ROBBERY – 2 COUNTS -GARY LEE THOMAS, III
PAINCOURTVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gary Lee Thomas, III, 23, of 118 Thomas St., Paincourtville, La., on felony simple robbery charges arising from separate incident’s which occurred on July 13,2026 and August 3, 2026, near Paincourtville.
On July 13, 2026, deputies responded to a reported robbery on Crossover Road. The victim indicated she traveled from Lafayette, LA to Paincourtville, LA to meet a male subject she knew through mutual friends. The male subject committed a battery upon the victim while stealing the victim’s cash.
On August 3, 2026, deputies responded to a reported robbery on Crossover Road. The victim indicated she traveled from Texas to Paincourtville, LA to meet a male subject she met on social media. Due to the condition meeting location, the victim attempted to leave the location however the male subject brandished a weapon and stole cash from the victim.
Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the male suspect in both cases as Gary Lee Thomas, III.
Detectives secured arrest warrants for Gary Lee Thomas, III.
Gary Lee Thomas, III, was arrested on Friday morning at 118 Thomas St. in Paincourtville.
Gary Lee Thomas, III was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Simple Robbery – 2 Counts
*Probation / Parole Detainer
Gary Lee Thomas, III remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing on the robbery charges.
Gary Lee Thomas, III was ordered held without bond on the probation / parole detainer.
