SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE COMPLAINT – MALIK ABDULLAH SHABAZZ
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Malik Abdullah Shabazz, 51, of 208 Virginia Street, Belle Rose, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a suspicious vehicle investigation at a business establishment in the 7000 block of LA 1 in Belle Rose late Wednesday night.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed two vehicles without license plates parked at the location and proceeded to investigate. The deputy made contact with the two drivers, one of which is now identified as Malik Abdullah Shabazz. The deputy noted that Shabazz could provide no documentation related to the vehicle he was driving.
During the interview process, the deputy noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the person of Malik Abdullah Shabazz. Deputies performed field sobriety test upon Shabazz of which he performed poorly.
Deputies conducted a personal pat down search incidental to arrest and seized a quantity of suspected synthetic marijuana off the person of Malik Abdullah Shabazz. Deputies arrested Shabazz and secured a search warrant to obtain a blood specimen from the suspect. That drawing was conducted at a local healthcare facility.
Malik Abdullah Shabazz was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driving While Intoxicated – Third Offense
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Marijuana
*No License Plate
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Vehicle Registration Violations
Malik Abdullah Shabazz remains incarcerated with bond set at $85,000.
