TAKING CONTRABAND TO /FROM A PENAL INSTUTION, MALFEASANCE IN OFFICE – ALI GANT
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Ali Gant, 27, of 306 Telegraph Street, Napoleonville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from his employment as a corrections officer at the Assumption Parish Detention Facility.
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, investigators received information indicating that inmates in a particular block of the detention facility may be in the possession of contraband.
The Narcotics and Corrections Divisions initiated an investigation and determined that the contraband was introduced into the facility by a corrections officer now identified as Ali Gant.
Investigators interviewed Ali Gant on Monday, May 12, 2025. Based on that interview and other evidence secured during this investigation, Ali Gant was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Monday on charges of:
*Taking Contraband to / from a Penal Institution
*Malfeasance in Office
Ali Gant remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Ali Gant has been employed since November 27, 2024. Gant’s employment was terminated on May 12, 2025.
