THEFT, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jerry Charles Cortez, 31, of 249 Vivian Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on theft and drug law violations following the completion of an investigation by Sheriff’s deputies.
On Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the area of Vivian Street, in connection to a possible theft. Deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that Jerry Charles Cortez had gone to the home of a relative neighbor and stole a package which had been delivered by Fed Ex.
Deputies made contact with Cortez and he did admit to stealing the package. At that time Cortez was detained. During a protective pat down search, a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized.
Jerry Charles Cortez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Theft
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Cortez was released after posting bond.
