TRAFFIC INCIDENT – CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM – GARY LAMAR WILLIAMS, SR. – I.C.E. ARREST
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gary Lamar Williams, Sr., 39, of 4433 Highway 308, Napoleonville, LA, on felony gun law violations arising from a traffic stop near Paincourtville on Monday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 70 East commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with Gary Lamar Williams, Sr and engaged the driver into an officer / violator interview. The deputy made observations of the driver which were consistent with criminal activity. During the interview process, Williams acknowledged the presence of a firearm in the vehicle. At some point, the deputy summoned a K-9 to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle which produced a positive result.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a .38 caliber handgun.
Gary Lamar Williams, Sr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Simple Assault
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Speeding 78 mph / 55 mph Zone
Gary Lamar Williams, Sr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
