TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – MICHAEL JEROME NELLS, JR.
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Michael Jerome Nells, Jr., 38, of 312 Willowdale Drive, Gray, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a Saturday afternoon traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse, LA.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Michael Jerome Nells, Jr. The deputy conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy conducted a walk-around of the suspect vehicle and noted drug paraphernalia in plain view. At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy felt that additional investigation was warranted, thus requested a K-9 at the location.
The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
A search of the vehicle yielded marijuana, methamphetamine and a firearm which were all seized.
Michael Nells, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center of charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Offense
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 3rd Offense
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Speeding – 66 / 45 MPH Zone
*Illegal Window Tint
Michael Jerome Nells, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $140,000.
