TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – KEVIN MICHAEL ANDERSON
BAYOU L’OURSE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kevin Michael Anderson, 35, of 152 Highway 1011, Labadieville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 662 late Thursday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Kevin Michael Anderson and conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy also interacted with a passenger and concluded that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of illegal controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine as well as a large caliber handgun.
Kevin Michael Anderson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Illegal Use of Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of Persons
Under 17 (Infant)
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Illegal Window Tint
*Child Passenger Restraint Systems Violated
*Color of Clearance Lamps, Identification Lamps, Side Marker
Kevin Michael Anderson remains incarcerated with bond set at $70,000.
