TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

I.C.E. ARRESTS
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Sebastian Anthony West, Jr, 20, of 6258 LA 44, Convent, LA and Kendall Jamaal Albert, 24, of 1501Tiffany Drive, Laplace, LA on felony gun / drug law violations arising from an attempted stop on LA 70 East early Sunday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to I.C.E. duty observed a westbound vehicle on LA 70 commit a traffic violation and attempted a stop of that vehicle. The suspect driver engaged the deputy in a pursuit situation and quickly accelerated in his attempt to flee at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The suspect vehicle continued southbound on LA 1 until the LA 1010 area at which time Sheriff’s deputies were successful in terminating the pursuit and taking the two occupants into custody.
A K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. Investigating deputies were able to locate a significant amount of suspected marijuana the suspects tossed from the vehicle during the pursuit. Additionally, two large caliber handguns were seized during the vehicle search.
Sebastian Anthony West, Jr. and Kendall Jamaal Albert were both arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:
– As to Sebastian Anthony West, Jr:
*Speeding
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*No Driver’s License
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
*Obstruction of Justice – 3 Counts
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– As to Kendall Jamaal Albert:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon – 2 Counts
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Obstruction of Justice – 3 Counts
Sebastian Anthony West, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $105,000.
Kendall Jamaal Albert remains incarcerated with bond set at $145,000.
