TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG LAW VIOLATION

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Cory Michael Gros, 41, of 6010 St. Elizabeth Street, Paincourtville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from an incident on Thursday evening on LA 1 near Belle Rose.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The vehicle continued on for some distance until deputies were able to stop him. The driver now identified as Cory Michael Gros was immediately detained.
Deputies attempted to interview Cory Michael Gros but were unable to illicit any response from him. Deputies concluded that additional investigation was warranted. Deputies summoned a K-9 unit to the scene and the K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine.
Cory Michael Gros was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Flight from an Officer
*Speeding
*Insurance
*Expired Driver’s License
*Detainer – Department of Corrections – Probation Violator
Cory Michael Gros remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
