TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
STEVE L. SIMONEAUX, NELSON JOSEPH GIROIR, JR.
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Steve L. Simoneaux, 65, of 231 Highway 1, Labadieville, LA and Nelson Joseph Giroir, Jr., 47, of 2568 Highway 1, Labadieville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop near Labadieville early Tuesday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 1 near the Labadieville Bridge commit multiple traffic and equipment violations and attempted an investigative stop of the vehicle. The driver continued on for a distance and was eventually stopped in the 300 block of LA 1011.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Steve L. Simoneaux as well as the passenger, identified as Nelson Joseph Giroir, Jr. The deputy determined that Steve L. Simoneaux was driving under a suspended driver’s license. The deputy interviewed both the driver and the passenger and concluded that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the vehicle search, a quantity of methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia was seized. Additionally, during a protective pat down sweep of Giroir’s person, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were seized.
Steve L. Simoneaux and Nelson Joseph Giroir, Jr. were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:
– As to Steve L. Simoneaux:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*No Seat Belt
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Turing Movements and Signals Required
*Proper Equipment Required
– As to Nelson Joseph Giroir, Jr.:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*No Seat Belt
Steve L. Simoneaux and Nelson Joseph Giroir, Jr. remain incarcerated pending bond proceedings.
