TRAFFIC INCIDENT, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARREST
RACQUEL DELAUNE BARBER, MARQUIL DYRONE SINGLETON
AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Racquel Delaune Barber,49, of 2327 Clements Street, Morgan City, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop near LA 622 and U.S. 90 early Monday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle and making contact with the driver now identified as Marquil Dyrone Singleton. The deputy noted equipment violations by the driver as well as one passenger.
The deputy noticed a rear seat passenger moving back and forth and not complying with deputy commands. At some point, the deputy removed the rear seat passenger now identified as Racquel Delaune Barber.
Due to the occupant actions, deputies believed further investigation was warranted.
Consent to search was obtained from all parties and as a result of that search, quantities of methamphetamine, multiple doses of Tramadol and Oxycodone were seized and attributed to Racquel Delaune Barber.
Deputies arrested Racquel Delaune Barber and booked her into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Oxymorphone (Opano)
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Oxycodone
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Obstruction of Justice
Racquel Delaune Barber remains incarcerated with bond set at $100,000.
The driver, Marquil Dyrone Singleton, 24, of 306 Levee Road, Morgan City, LA was cited for:
*No Seat Belt
*Turning Movement and Required Signals
He was released with a court date.
The third occupant, Elliot D. Broussard, 61, of 108 Texas Street, Lafayette, LA was cited for No Seat Belt and released with a court date.
