TRAFFIC INCIDENT – I.C.E. ARREST – BRUCE J. KNOCKUM
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Bruce J. Knockum, 63, of 125 Jones Street, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug and obstruction charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 308 near Paincourtville on Wednesday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and attempted a stop of that vehicle. The suspect vehicle continued on and in doing so, the driver began throwing items out of the driver’s window.
The deputy was able to stop the vehicle and arrested the driver now identified as Bruce J. Knockum. The deputy observed suspected methamphetamine scattered about the vehicle’s interior.
The deputy summoned a K-9 to the stop location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine.
Bruce J. Knockum was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Obstruction of Justice
*Resisting an Officer
*Failure to Drive on Right Side of Roadway
*Tail Lamps Required
*Flight from an Officer
*Illegal Window Tint
Bruce J. Knockum remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
