TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT – ANTONIO VALDEZ, JR., JAMARIAS JONTRELL WILLIAMS
PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Antonio Valdez, Jr., 32, of 180 South Cherrywood Lane, Pearl River, LA and Jamarias Jontrell Williams, 22, of 142 Pleasant Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on multiple charges following a traffic incident turned pursuit situation near Plattenville on Friday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a southbound vehicle on LA 308 commit a traffic violation and attempted a traffic stop of that vehicle. The suspect vehicle crossed over onto LA 1 and headed south. The suspect engaged deputies into a pursuit situation.
The suspect vehicle eventually crashed in the Roy Street / LA 308 area. Both the driver and the passenger jumped out of the vehicle into a water filled ditch. Both suspects, now identified as Antonio Valdez, Jr. and Jamarias Jontrell Williams were arrested.
A K-9 was summoned to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected marijuana, multiple doses of Xanax, multiple THC products which will be tested for toxicity as well as an amount of U.S. currency.
Antonio Valdez, Jr. was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Driver Must be Licensed
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Alprazolam
*Detainer – Probation and Parole
Antonia Valdez, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $150,000.
Jamarius Jontrell Williams was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*No Seat Belt
*Failure to Appear in Court in Assumption Parish on September 27, 2023, on Charges of Aggravated Assault Upon a Dating Partner
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Alprazolam
Jamarius Jontrell Williams remains incarcerated with bond set at $100,601.50.
