TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Caleb Rashawn Givens, 22, of 626 Egle Street, Morgan City, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from an attempted traffic stop on U.S. 90 on Friday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle on U.S. 90 with an equipment violation and attempted a stop of that vehicle. The suspect driver exited the vehicle but at some point, re-entered the vehicle. The passenger then exited the vehicle and refused to re-enter.
The suspect driver drove off engaging deputies in a pursuit situation.
The suspect driver stopped the vehicle near Gibson and fled on foot. The suspect was then apprehended with the assistance of K-9. It was determined that the suspect, now identified as Caleb Rashawn Givens, was wanted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office on a fugitive warrant.
Caleb Rashwan Givens was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce
*Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer with a Motor Vehicle
*Resisting an Officer – 3 Counts
*Illegal Window Tint
*Fugitive Warrant – Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office on Charges of:
-Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Caleb Rashawn Givens remains incarcerated with bond set at $60,000.
A warrant for the arrest of the passenger, Matt Alexander Stewart, 29, of 109 Jarvis Street, Gibson, LA, was applied for charging him with one count of Resisting an Officer.
