TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT – BARRY P. LEBLANC
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Barry P. LeBlanc, 58, of 5727 Highway 308, Plattenville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from an attempted traffic stop turned pursuit originating on LA 70 Spur near Paincourtville on Tuesday afternoon.
A detective on assignment observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted a stop of that vehicle. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and engaged the deputy into a pursuit situation. The suspect vehicle continued east on LA 70 to LA 3089 into Ascension Parish. The suspect vehicle proceeded into Donaldsonville, ignoring an Ascension Parish patrol deputy who attempted to stop him. The suspect vehicle continued to LA 308 and headed south. Deputies pursued the suspect vehicle to the Plattenville area at which time the pursuit was successfully terminated. Deputies engaged the suspect, now identified as Barry P. LeBlanc, who resisted attempts to be taken into custody. LeBlanc was arrested and eventually transported to a local healthcare facility for treatment of a medical issue.
Upon release from the medical facility, Barry P. LeBlanc was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence
*Disregarded Stop Sign
*Violating Traffic Control Signals
Barry P. LeBlanc remains incarcerated with bond set at $250,000.
