TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS
DAMIUM JERMAINE PORTER, SHERRY S. WILLIAMS
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Damium Jermaine Porter, 40, of 145 Jennings Lane, Houma, LA and Sherry S. Williams, 44, of 10766 Rondo Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA, on various charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 308 south of Napoleonville on Tuesday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Damium Jermaine Porter and one passenger identified as Sherry S. Williams.
During a license check, the deputy determined that Damium Jermaine Porter was driving with a suspended drivers license. Further, the deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
During the interview process, Sherry S. Williams acknowledged the presence of a firearm in the vehicle. Damium Jermaine Porter is a prior convicted felon and cannot be in constructive possession of a firearm.
Based on all facts considered, the deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested permission to search the vehicle which was granted.
During the search, a quantity of marijuana and MDMA (Ecstasy) were seized.
Damium Jermaine Porter was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Headlamps Required for Motor Vehicle
*Driving under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Porter remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Sherry S. Williams was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
*Possession of Marijuana Over 14 Grams
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Williams remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
