TRAFFIC STOP DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Jarrett McKinley Gros Simoneaux, 30, 7405 Highway 1 South, Donaldsonville, LA and Kailen Katherine Landry, 28, of 876 Highway 70 South, Belle Rose, LA, on felony drug and gun law violations arising from a traffic stop on LA 1 near LA 400.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle in the 3500 block of LA 1 with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Jarrett McKinley Gros Simoneaux and initiated an officer / violator interview. The deputy then identified the passenger as Kailen Katherine Landry and determined that a warrant was valid for the arrest of Landry for Failure to Appear.
At the conclusion of interviews, deputies summoned a K-9 to the scene of the stop. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of a firearm, a quantity of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Jarrett McKinley Gros Simoneaux was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Improper Equipment
Kailen Katherine Landry was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Marijuana
*Warrant – Failure to Appear in Court in Assumption Parish on 02/06/2023 on Charges
of:
-No Insurance
-Obscuring of Windshield Prohibited
Jarrett McKinley Gros Simoneaux and Kailen Katherine Landry remain incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
