TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS
VERNELL DORSETTE, III, KEITH ANTHONY ROBERTSON, JR.

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Vernell Dorsette, III, 21, of 115 Sarah Drive, Plattenville, LA, and Keith Anthony Robertson, Jr., 19, of 304 Lucky Street, Plattenville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 West of Paincourtville on Sunday afternoon.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 70 commit a traffic violation and conducted a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver and conducted an officer / violator interview. The driver is now identified as Vernell Dorsette, III. The deputy noted a hand rolled suspected marijuana blunt over Dorsette’s ear.

The deputy made contact with the passenger, now identified as Keith Anthony Robertson, Jr. and conducted an interview of him as well.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered suspected marijuana, multiple doses of Adderall, multiple doses of Ritalin and two large caliber handguns.

Vernell Dorsette, III and Keith Anthony Robertson, Jr. were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:

-As to Vernell Dorsette, III, he was charged on counts of:
*Possession of Ritalin (4 Counts)
*Possession of Adderall
*Possession of Marijuana
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous
Substances
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic

-As to Keith Anthony Robertson, Jr., he was charged on counts of:
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous
Substances
*Possession of Ritalin (4 Counts)
*Possession of Adderall

Vernell Dorsette, III and Keith Anthony Roberston, Jr. remain incarcerated pending bond hearings.
