TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Alex Pernell Morris, 58, of 5965 Highland Hills Drive, Dallas, Texas, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop in the 4500 block of LA 1 near Napoleonville Saturday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol supervisor assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now
identified as Alex Pernell Morris and conducted an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested a K-9 to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, a large caliber firearm and assorted drug paraphernalia. Alex Pernell Morris was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute – (2 Counts
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Speeding
*Owner to Secure Registration
*Expired Vehicle Registration
Alex Pernell Morris remains incarcerated with bond set at $70,000.
