TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS
CORTEZ RONELL ROBINSON, MATT ALEXANDER STEWART, JEFFERY LEE WILLIAMS, JR.
AMELIA– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Cortez Ronell Robinson, 34, of 180 Pine Bayou Circle, Monroe, LA, Matt Alexander Stewart, 26, of 109 Jarvis Street, Gibson, LA and Jeffery Lee Williams, Jr., 31, of 5528, North Bayou Black Road, Gibson, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop near Amelia on Wednesday.
An I.C.E. assigned deputy on patrol on LA Highway 182, observed an eastbound vehicle with multiple non-moving violations and proceeded to stop the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Cortez Ronell Robinson and conducted an officer / violator interview.
The deputy then proceeded to interview the two passengers, now identified as Matt Alexander Stewart and Jeffery Lee Williams, Jr. The deputy noted all three individuals to be acting in a nervous manner and they were very reserved in answering routine questions. The deputy also noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted.
During the search process, a significant quantity of suspected marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and a large caliber handgun was recovered.
All three suspects were arrested. The investigating deputy conducted a criminal records check on all three suspects and determined that they were all prior convicted felons.
Robinson, Stewart and Williams were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:

*Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer
*Failure to Appear

*Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Previous Conviction – Attempted Second Degree Murder – 2019 – St. Mary Parish)

*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Deputies seized several thousand dollars of U.S. currency.
Cortez Ronell Robinson, Matt Alexander Stewart and Jeffery Lee Williams, Jr. were all incarcerated and await bond hearings.
