TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATION – JUNIUS THOMPSON, III
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Junius Thompson, III, 31, of 151 Louis Lane, Napoleonville, LA on felony charges arising from a traffic stop late Thursday night.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and proceeded to make a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Junius Thompson, III and conducted an officer / driver interview.
During the interview the officer had reason to believe that the driver was under the influence of some type of narcotic. Consent to search was requested but denied by the driver. A K-9 was brought to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a quantity of Xanax and a firearm were located.
Junius Thompson, III was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Illegal Carrying of Weapon in Presence of CDS (Felony)
*Possession of Xanax (Alprazolam) (Felony)
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Junius Thompson, III remains incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.
